Great Lakes Bookkeeping Academy is a training simulator for practical bookkeeping. Students work through accounts payable, accounts receivable, journal entries, and reconciliation under an instructor-authored syllabus.
Learning through practice
The application uses deterministic validators to assess exercises. This gives training activities explicit rules and repeatable feedback rather than relying on subjective checks.
Data and access
Next.js, React, and TypeScript support the application. Supabase provides PostgreSQL, authentication, and storage. Row-level security protects student-facing tables, while answer keys remain instructor-only. A Basejump team model supports organizations and roles.
Verification
The project uses Vitest for application logic, pgTAP for database behavior, and Playwright for end-to-end flows. Together, these checks cover exercise validation, data access, and the learner experience.
Relevant experience
This work is relevant to learning platforms, business simulators, and applications where permissions and correctness need the same attention as the interface.
